Rev James W Strother 1799-1867

I visited the Alston-Johnston Cemetery in Madison Co, TN this past weekend. There ae many ALSTON's, and TYSON's buried here. I notice a large, very nice tombstone, that was knocked over. It had the following inscription on it,

Rev. James W. Strother
Born Madison Co, VA
July 12, 1799
Died in Brownsville, TN
July 26, 1867
Aged 68y14d

The Alston-Johnston Cemetery is near Denmark, TN...off of the Denmark-Jackson road in a field under some cedar trees.
His listing is also in the book

Cemetery Records of Madison Co, TN Vol 1. The southern Half. Published by the MidWest TN Genealogical Society. Copyright 1995. TN Room 929.5768 M1

I was wondering why he was there without any other Strothers...or how he knew the Alston/Tyson's that came to TN from NC.

So..if any of you Strother's can add any information, I would appreciate it. I hope this information helps someone. I have found those that move across county lines and seem to be in a "place" where there aren't other family members turn out to be "brick walls"...hope this helps someone.

Helen
