Karen, Post a complete paragraph to the rootsweb Kerry mailing list (subscribe digest mode). It's a dedicated/busy list with wonderful researchers. They will jump all over your questions and tell you exactly where to go, etc. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/IRL/IRL-KERRY.html This will be helpful -- there is a lot of chat on the list regarding getting permission to look at records: http://homepage.eircom.net/~dinglemaps/genuki/KER/Tralee/ The Roman Catholic church, also dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, was built off Castle Street, and rebuilt in 1870. The contact details for the Parish of Saint John, Tralee are listed at the diocesan website. .... The Roman Catholic registers for Baptisms start in 1772 and Marriages in 1774. The registers remain in the custody of the parish priest, although microfilm copies are at the National Archives of Ireland. Written permission from the Bishop of Kerry is required to view these records. Karen -- I think I have some sort of birth record that was "filed" in Ardfert, but they were born in Ballyheigue...? I'll watch for your post to the list! Kate Notify Administrator about this message?
