I am descended from Stephen Sullivan and Dorcas Pinell thru one of their daughters, Emeline, who married Jesse Walker Blair. He died before 1850. She died 22 Sept 1897 and is buried in the Old Klondike Cemetery, Delta Co. Texas.
I am confused abt all the differences I see posted regarding the death and burial location of Stephen. Some say he was executed by federal troops. Others say he was hung but cut down by his slaves.
Some say he died 1871 and is buried in Sullivan, Missouri. A Pinell Family website says he died March, 1867 in Illinois.
Does anyone know the truth? Has anyone obtained any estate papers of Stephen ? You would think that if he was fairly wealthy, there would have been some court documents existing which could shed some light on this.
