I have James Sullivan, b. abt 1788, and Rachel Pickett, b. abt 1790, getting married in Fayette Co., Ky. on 1-27-1808. The marriage records in Fayette Co. shows 'Curgis?' as the father of the groom. I am translating this as Burgess, but the only Burgess I can find was born abt 1720 in Va. They may be related, but I don't think they are one & the same. My Burgess also shows up as the step-father for Nancy Shrock & Elizabeth Shrock when they get married. I think that he may be the son or nephew of the Va. Burgess, but I can't find any proof. Can anyone give me a hand?
