Start with your parent's birth certificate. It will probably list his/her parent's birthplaces. Once you pinpoint date and time and place your grandfather was born, then you can get his birth record. It may tell you his position in the family (ie: 1st born or 3rd & may include how many live births his mother had thus far). Then you have a place and date to go to the censuses and track the family. Once you locate him as an adult either with or without a family you can check the area for Catholic churches and explore where they may have married. You should also track his wife in a similar fashion. Chances are they married either near his family or near hers, or both if her family moved to MA from Canada.
