The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, September 20, 1906 S.B. SWIFT, of this city, was a boy of ten summers, fifty years ago, and residing with his parents near Iconium. When he read the golden wedding of HON. THOMAS BRANDON and wife in last week's Leader, it brought old times back to him. He says he remembers the occasion of fifty years ago and that his father and mother attended the wedding. Their conveyance was an old lynch pin Pennsylvania wagon with a box fully fifteen feet long and three feet deep. But those were the good old days, after all. MR. SWIFT also says the first school he ever attended was in 1856 and was taught by MRS. BRANDON, whose name was then MARY JANE STEPHENS. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert November 1, 2004 iggy29@rnetinc.net http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm Notify Administrator about this message?
