This obituary is from a news clipping in a family Bible; I'm not sure what publication but seems to be either a Des Moines, Iowa, daily newspaper or a church-related newspaper.
Obituary.
Swift
Died at the residence of her son, Alfonso Swift, July 23, 1888. Mrs. Deidamia Swift, aged 76 years and 3 months.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Bourne, was born April 23, 1812, at East Falmouth, Mass., where she was married to Hallett Swift May 14, 1833, and where she resided until the death of her husband, May 26, 1849. She came to Benton county, Indiana, in 1853, and to Des Moines in 1864, where she has since resided with her son. She was the mother of four children, only one of whom is still living. Her daughter, Mrs. Curl, was the lamented teacher who passed away a short time since. Mrs. Swift was a member of the Unitarian Church and was a woman of persistent purpose in her ideas and opinions. For thirty-nine years she was a widow, whose care was to bless as far as she could her children, and they have repaid it well in her case. For two years past she has been a helpless sufferer with paralysis, but his been carefully watched over by her son and his wife, and indeed the latter, though bound by no ties of blood, has been a ministering angel to the sufferer. The funeral was attended at the residence of Bro. Swift by Dr. Hunting and Bro. Lucas.
