As for the Swift meat packing company, that was founded by Gustavus Franklin Swift (June 24, 1839 – March 29, 1903), and his ancestors had been living on Cape Cod in Massachusetts for a couple of centuries. It shouldn't be hard to find a history of the company online should you be interested.
