SWIFTS in Yorkshire, England 1780s

I am looking for a Yorkshire SWIFT family for my London ancestor James Platt Swift who was born about 1784, in or around Halifax, Yorks. England. His parents are unknown, but may well have been a SWIFT & PLATT. None of his siblings have so far been traced.

James Platt SWIFT came to Surrey/London area early 1800s and married Ann Carpenter, they had 7 children: Richard Carpenter 1813, Henry 1816, James 1819, Francis Carpenter 1821, Ann 1825, George 1825, Richard Beaumont 1828.

James Platt Swift was in the booktrades business, originally bookbinding and bookselling and then later into publishing and printing. His earlier ancestors may have been similar or perhaps leather trades.

The middle name Beaumont may be an older family name and has been found in successive generations.

The Swift family have moved about over time and have links with other counties. The SWIFT & PLATT marriage may therefore have been a neighbouring county such as Lancashire, Lincolnshire or Derbyshire.

If anyone has any information on above my email contact is: h4z3l@diino.com
