hello, Ilean, I don't know if I can answer all your questions but I can answer some of them.
on the 1900 Grundy Co. TN census for Jesse Hamby where you find him in household #110 with "aunt" Rena Hawk: Rena Hawk was born Frances Arcena Scott, daughter of Samuel Scott and Rena Scott. she married William Hawk, brother to John Hawk. Wm and Rena didn't have any children.
Rena had the following sisters:
Martha b. c.1840-45 and her mother was Nora Barth - she married unknown Freeman. her children: Speaker Scott, John Scott, Ida Scott, Ader Scott.
Elizabeth b. c.1842 and her mother was unknown "colored" female as noted on her death certificate no. 453 Grundy Co. - she never married.
Sarah Jane b. 1847 who married Alexander W. Campbell. her mother was Manerva Emmaline Stotts.
Susannah M.(Minerva)"Annie" who married first George Hawk, second William Cunningham. her mother was Manerva Emmaline Stotts.
Lynchia A. Scott b. c. 1851 - mother was Kizziah Still.
another Elizabeth Scott b. 1854 - mother was Kizziah Still.
Mary Scott b. 1858 - her mother was Kizziah Still.
Rena's brothers:
Isaac Scott b. 1856 - mother was Kizziah Still.
William Scott b. 1859 - mother was Kizziah Still.

1850 Warren Co. TN census has Samuel Scott married to Manerva Emmaline Stotts.
Samuel Scott married Kizziah Still 4 Jan 1854 and she had a child named Jesse Stills that came into the household and is listed age 15 in their household in the 1860 Grundy Co. TN census.

the only thing I can figure out about the "aunt" listing is possibly this: that Jesse's wife Mary SCOTT was the half-sister of Rena Scott Hawk that is noted on the 1860 Grundy Co., TN census as being 2 years old, making her actually born 1858 instead of the 1868 listing she had noted on the 1900 census.
this would make Rena the aunt to the children listed in the household of Jesse and Mary Scott Hamby.

due to the fact that Rena wasn't related to the Hambys or the Sartains and that she was the half- sister to Mary Scott Hamby, making her the aunt to Jesse and Mary's children, this is the only plausible explaination.

let me know what you think,
