McCaig/McCage information needed

I am researching McCaigs in TN....Humphreys, Henderson,
Perry, and Gibson counties.
My line, Samuel McCaig, was born in Ireland ca 1785. He
married and had a child Jacob Samuel McCaig in 1805, at
which time his first wife died. He subsequently married
Elizabeth Leslie/Lesley in 1812 in Humphreys county.
They had first a son named William B. McCaig (ca 1813).
He married Clara. William and Clara had Martha in 1846
in TN and Jane in 1848 in Arkansas. Samuel and Elizabeth
along with Wm. and Clara and little Martha, two other
daughters, Jane McCaig Potter and husband Ben, and
Mary McCaig Thomas and husband Ben, all went to Arkansas
together about 1847, settling in Conway and Searcy Counties
near Samuel Leslie, Elizabeth Leslie McCaig's brother.

From postings I have seen online and on GenForum, people
seem to think that William B. McCaig,
parent of Aaron Riley McCaig, a prominent citizen,
was the son of my Samuel McCaig. Since he was born 1807,
I don't believe this could be correct. I am of the
belief that perhaps Samuel was a brother to a William
McCaig of Humphreys County, also born in Ireland, and
that they both named sons William B. (perhaps after
their father in Ireland????)

There were several McCaig/McCages in Perry, Humphreys,
Henderson, and Gibson County and I am TRYING to sort them
out and also to PROVE who they were, not just mindlessly
copy information from some family tree posted on the internet....that leads to a lot of misinformation....

Anyone help with my mixup??????
