I am not sure if this is this is the same Jonathan May but I have a Jonathan May ancestor who is my great great great great grandfather who moved to Humphrey County from North Carolina. His wife's name was Sarah, she was born in Tennessee. The 1850 Census lists Jonathan as 21 years of age and his wife, Sarah as 15.

The source book I have gathered information from states that Jonathan May was taken prisoner by Federal Troops from him farm near McEwen, TN. He never returned to his family.

I imagine this is the reason you may be having trouble locating when he died and where he is buried.
