A few years ago, I saw a written report regarding the 1860 census of Jefferson Co., TN in which certain data was listed. The source of this information was possibly secondary in that it may have been a transcription of the census or it could have been from another researcher, but now I am unable to find that report in my hard copy records. Fortunately, I made a note in my electronic gedcom which is shown below.
I need that "factual" data in order to supply a basis for a theory that lends itself to a newly located argument for relatedness. Without it the argument, falls short.
Can anyone confirm the following statement by providing the source of the information???
Here's the note from my gedcom, regarding the household of Isaac Jacobs:
"Two children are listed on the 1860? census who appear to be "extra" to those listed as the known children of Isaac and Elizabeth Ann Churchman Jacobs. Both of these "extras" were recorded with the same birth years as Rebecca (1854) and Lydia (1856). These two are: William, b. 1854 and Isaac, b. 1856. If neither of these are the bonafide children of Isaac and Elizabeth, i.e. each of them a twin to Rebecca and Lydia repectively, then they must surely be children of another Jacobs couple, or another couple whose children were staying at the Jacobs household. No further record thus far exists of these two children either before or after this census record (in relation to this Jacobs household)."
I recorded no date as to when I made this note in the gedcom, but I think it was likely to have been in about 1998-1999.
