This was a Russell family. I seem to recall that one of the two teens listed as prostitutes was named Susan or Susie.

I suspect records of this sort tell us more about the census taker than about the women listed. Census takers were the more educated, "upstanding" men in the community. Perhaps this recorder was a self righteous type who managed to record his disapproval in this sneaky way. After all, the people who were recorded never saw what was written. And, perhaps, he had heard gossip about these women, had tried and been rejected by them...decided to get even.
