Sorry, I can't help you, but wondered if you knew the connection of any Cobbs to the Durbins. My grandmother's brother was named, John Cobb Durbin. Their parents were Willis Marion Durbin (from Lawrence Co) and Gracie Abaigail "Abi" (Davis) Durbin. The Durbins were in Lawrence Co starting abt 1818, and spread throughout that general area. The last we have of Willis Durbin is on the 1880 census of Decatur Co in Dist# 2.
We have always been curious where the name Cobb came from?
It isn't one of our usual family names, so we thought it must have been borrowed from some good neighbors they liked.
