Michael, I have Sarah Helton/Hilton showing up in the Census for Lincoln CO in 1830. She is with 2 sons 10-19, and 3 daughters 10-19. She is shown as between 40-49. The information fits with Margaret C Hilton, b abt 1815 in TN, and married to Singleton C Sikes in Lincoln CO in Mar 1838. Margaret always listed her mother and father as having been born in North Carolina, same as Singleton, but the Sikes were from Northampton CO and then Orange CO, where Singleton's parents were married. Anything else I have is just conjecture at this point. But now that you have confirmed an earlier Lincoln CO male, I would like to assume he is the husband of Sarah, and the father of Margaret. Please keep me informed of your progress, and I will you of mine. I'm sorry I can't help going backwards, but I think these are connected.
