I am researching my great-grandfather's family and I have hit a road block of sorts.
His name is William Porter White. He was born September 5, 1876 to a John White and Lucinda Sells. I have a Funeral record for him that states his parents are John White and Luecinda Sels.
I also have William's Marriage license to Hattie M. Glisman that he filled out or someone else with his giving the information and it states Father is John White and Mother is Lucinda Sells. This paper states that he was born in Overton County, Tennessee.
I cannot seem to find him on an 1880 census in Tennessee anywhere. I know he may have moved in the four years. I did find a John M. White and Lucinda Sells with a son Porter who was 1 in the 1880 census in Howell County Missouri. I am just trying to find anything out about him.
I have a 1910 Census with
William P White
Hattie
Russell (my grandfather)
Bernice
This census states that William was born in Missouri and so were his parents.
I have a 1920 census with
William White
Hattie
Rice Edmonds as a roomer
Russell (my grandfather)
Bernice
Helen
Marian
Margaret
Blanche
This census states that William was born in Tennessee and his parents were born in Scotland.
I have a 1930 census with
William White Widowed
Bernice
Helen
Marian
Margaret
Blanche
This census states that William was born in Tennessee and his parents were born in Scotland.
I believe this William White is the same one in all of the census because of what has been told down by family members.
Any help that anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for anything you might be able to contribute to this "impossible" endeavor of mine.
