William Rogers b. ca 1793 is the son of William Rogers and Rosannah Heard. He most likely was born in Lee Co. VA which had just been formed from Russell Co. in 1792. William m. Patience (unknown) in Bledsoe Co.(?) TN. William and his brothers lived in Bledsoe Co. and later Marion Co. This was a family of strong Methodists who became presachers and devout laymen. William was an organizer of Methodist Sunday Schools in the Sequatchie Valley. He also served as superintendent of those Sunday Schools. When William died in 1849 in Marion Co. TN, he was buried at Hennigar Chapel which was later destroyed in the War Between the States. A new church was built and became the Chapel Hill Methodist Church. William's tombstone comments on his stewardship and claims that he was the first to be buried in that cemetery.
