FREDERIC TREMBLAY from St-Urbain ... ADOPTED???

Hi,

I just finished a week's geneology search vacation from the St-Urbain, Charlevois area in Northern Quebec.

I found out some interesting information while stopping in at an older relative's place in Montreal, Quebec.

She strongly claims that FREDERIC TREMBLAY (d. 08.06.1896 St-Urbain m. ANGELIQUE MENARD on 08.08.1837) was adopted as a small child by JOSEPH-MARIE TREMBLAY and wife ELIZABETH POTVIN.

Apparently there were 3 brothers that came on a boat from ??? (unknown). All three brothers didnt speak english or french. (Maybe german??) FREDERIC was adopted by the TREMBLAY family, one brother was adopted by a GAGNE family and the last brother was adopted by a ST-PIERRE family.

FREDERIC TREMBLAY would be this woman's great-grandfather, so she has SOME credibility in her story.

Does anyone have ANY information about this to either back this up or dispute this?

Thanks in advance,
