Trowbridges on Isle Valen

I was told that my grandfather, HENRY TROWBRIDGE (b. 1876)was born on Isle Valen in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. I am having trouble verifying who his parents were. TROWBRIDGES don't show up on Isle Valen until 1866, and they were SAMUEL, JOHN and THOMAS, but I cannot find out where they came from. Is anyone missing a Samuel, John or Thomas?

I am led to believe that my great-grandfather, Henry's father, was Samuel and that he also had another son John, and three daughters, Lillias, Sara Selina(Sadie), and Mary(Poly).

I did find a JOHN THOMAS TROWBRIDGE, b. 1883 on Isle Valen, attending the University of Saskatchewn, in 1917, studing to be an anglican minister. He enlisted in WWI in 1917, but I have not been able to find out if he survived the war or if he ever married. From information I heard, by word of mouth, he eventually married and had a son, also named John, who drowned on the Great Lakes.

LILLIAS TROWBRIDGE, my great aunt, married Norman Munn and moved to the USA and after her father died Mary(poly)and her mother, who I belive was Elvina, also moved to the USA.

I did find a death notice in an old Newfoundland paper for an Elvina Trowbridge burried in Mass in 1937, which leads me to believe that there must have been relatives there, if indeed this is the Elvina that is part of my family.

Do anyone have any information on any of these people?
