Hello from Australia. I am searching for any information on one Sir Edward Thornton, British Diplomat 1816-1906. I only have what I can get from the Internet and that is:
His father was Sir Edward Thornton Senior 1766- also a British Diplomat, his mother was a Magdalene. Sir Edward junior married a Mary Melville(nee Maitland) Widow of Andrew Melville, and the children were William and Thomas Thornton.
Searching around I found that a William Thornton and a Dorothy' may have been Sir Edward senior's parents but I have since found an entry under Curious Fox that another researcher states a Thomas and Catherine Thornton may have been his parents.
I would appreciate any help.
