All variants of the name included: Brittain, Bretton, Britten, etc. Participants must be males (because only males have Y-chromosomes) and their surname must be Britton. The Y-chromosome is passed from father to son and follows the male line/surname. Y-DNA testing makes it possible to trace the male line back hundreds of years, even in the absence of records. The Britton DNA Projects are hosted by Ancestry: http://groups.ancestry.com/public.aspx?&mfsid=35403972 DNA Heritage: http://www.dnaheritage.com/surnameform.asp?GroupUnique=847878844&Surname=Britton and Family Tree: https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=Q52865&special=true DNA tests may be ordered at any of these websites.
