Seeking information regarding Shadrack DAWSON, born 1768, Caroline Co., MD. His parents were most likely William and Isabella DAWSON, who were married about 1751 in Caroline Co., MD. (William DAWSON was born abt 1721 in London, England. William DAWSON's parents were Benjamin and Susannah DAWSON, formerly of London, England.)
Shadrack DAWSON,and his wife Abigail ? appear in Accomack Co,VA, in the Personal Tax List of Accomac, Va. in 1783. (Tax Papers Fothergill 1787, The Virginia Genealogist Accomack, Va.) I do not know when they moved to Accomack Co. They had three children, James, Robert W. and Elizabeth DAWSON.
In 1808 a Last Will and Testament for Shadrack is found in York Co., VA. He lists his wife Abigail, and his three children as heirs. James and Robert DAWSON, remained and raised their families in York Co., VA. There is no record of a marriage for Elizabeth.
Shadrack and Abigail's son Robert W.(?Winton) DAWSON, b. 1787, Accomack Co., states he was from the Eastern Shore in the 1850 census of York Co., VA. He served in the War of 1812 out of York Co., VA.
Any information regarding the DAWSON's in Accomack Co., VA would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
