Help is needed in Accomack County, VA to identify a family with the surname of Gladding, but I have found this family in 1870 Atlantic, Accomack, VA census under Gladden and in 1880 under Gladdin as follows:
1870
Gladden, Erastus 21 Farmer VA
Gladden, Samuel 16 Farm Labor VA
Parker, Elizabeth 49 Keep House VA
1880
Gladdin, Sam B (S) 26 Sailor VA/VA/VA
Parker, Eliz. P. (W) 59 Mother VA/VA/VA
According to 1880 census father was also born in VA. I am trying to determine who the father of Sam B. & Erastus Gladding were.
From the above information I have determined that Elizabeth Unknown married 1st to Mr. Gladding and after his death she remarried a Mr. Parker. Elizabeth was born abt. 1821 in VA. She had at least two sons by Mr. Gladding. Erastus Gladding b. abt. 1849 and Samuel B. Gladding b. 1854.
Can someone check Accomack County, VA will books to see if there is a will after 1854 when the youngest son, Samuel B. Gladding was born? Also, can some check for a marriage record when Elizabeth Gladding re-married after her husband's death?
