The name Mabry is a slurring of the name Mayberry. My earliest record of the name is in James City County, VA, when Francis Mayberry married Elizabeth Gilliam. Francis Mayberry's will was written 22 Mar 1711/12, proven in Surry County 18 Jun 1714. There were three Mayberry sons, Charles, Hinshaw, and George. Elizabeth Gilliam Mayberry wrote her will 6 Jun 1713, proven 15 Feb 1715, Surry Co, VA.Charles and George Mayberry had large families and one can see when the name became Maybry or Mabry. Dr. Wicker
