I’d like to borrow the eyes of and help from anyone who wishes to freely give. I have gone to considerable expense trying to find information on my great-grandmother, Rebecca (Fannin) Workman. She was born in Wayne County, then Virginia now West Virginia, (according to census) in April 1850 to Silas and Mary (Ferguson) Fannin. She married my great-grandfather in Wayne County, August 8, 1868. My grandfather, Benjamin Freeland Workman was born in Wayne County April 2, 1870. There was some domestic trouble and my great grandfather took my grandfather from Rebecca about 1871-72 and he grew up under a strict, abusive step-mother. Rebecca divorced my great-grandfather without his presence in Wayne County Court in March 1877. After my grandfather was grown and married, (according to my mother) he tried to locate his birth mother and failed. There have been various stories, but most of them commonly agree that Rebecca remarried. Some stories say she lived at Princeton, others say Buchanan, Virginia. I have researched Princeton, West Virginia, pretty thoroughly. I still could have overlooked something. I only recently learned that there was a Princeton, Kentucky, and haven’t done much checking there. Most of the information easily found on the Internet about this family comes from me, and my efforts to find Rebecca. I would very much like to locate a descendant of Rebecca who could tell me about her final years. If they had a photograph to share, that would be a wonderful plus.
