Don't limit your search just to Franklin County (if you are), as county lines changed and people moved often. Here is what little info I have: Peggy Thurston married John Green, Jr. on January 27, 1808, in Goochland, VA. I have these notes: Peggy Thurston and John Green, Jr. - when they married, Peggy was shown as the daughter of Elizabeth Thurston. So, I don't know if Elizabeth's married name was Thurston or her maidenname was Thurston. When Peggy and John were married, surety was by Noel Lowry. Witness was Donald Fraser. They were married by Rev. Lewis (or Louis) Chaudoin. From "Records of Augusta County, Virginia," under Executions, I had made these notes: "Samuel Miller vs Smith Lofland - Deposition of Plummer Thurston - 17th of August 1801. The house of Peggy Thurston, King and Queen County. Plummer is son of Peggy. Deposition (dep.) at same place and time of Peggy Thurston, aged about 54 years: In 1798, she sold the slave to Samuel Jesse of Middlesex. She employed physicians for the slave viz: one negro doctor and two women doctors, 'whom had been much approved of in many cases of sickness.' Dep. of Phillip Sears at same time and place. Could Phillip Sears have been the spouse of Clara Thurston Sears, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Thurston? Since Peggy Thurston and John Green, Jr. married on January 27, 1808, and Plummer Thurston, shown as the son of Peggy Thurston gave a deposition in August of 1801, it would appear Peggy was previously married to a Thurston. For now, that is what I will assume. Possibly her husband was also named Plummer (I have run across several Plummer Thurstons in my research). For what it is worth, here is an additional note re one of those - William Plummer Thurston from "Abstracts of Louisa County, VA Wills 1743-1801, WB 2, page 47," - Bond of John Hawkins and Patrick Henry, Jr., executors of estate of Charles Smith. Security Samuel Ragland, William Smith, William P. Thurston. Amount 3000 pounds. Dated and received 12 December 1768. Signed John Hawkins; Patrick Henry, Jr.; Samuel Ragland; William Smith; W. P. Thurston. This was the only mention of Thurston in this book, so there were apparently no Thurston wills in Louisa County during that period. This WPT was married to Lucy Taliaferro - who was a Taliaferro, married Thurston then married a Hay Taliaferro. See also Orange County, Virginia marriage records.
