Where is Maple Run in relation to Elk Run and Rapidan River? My 5th-great-grandfather Benjamin Head and his father-in-law Robert Sharman owned property adjacent to Maple Run and Rapidan River during the mid-1700s, but I can't find any reference to Maple Run's location on any map. I do see where Elk Run empties into the Rapidan River, just north of Burtonsville. Benjamin, in 1771, purchased 1325 acres of the old Octonia Tract just southeast of this location, so it seems reasonable that the Maple Run property in what was then Culpeper County would have been somewhere near there on the north side of Rapidan River.
