Mt Sinai Baptist Church, Shelby

Can anyone provide history of or information on Mt. Sinai Baptist Church near Shelby on Secondary Road 621 just west of US 29?

Davis, in MADISON COUNTY, VIRGINIA: A REVISED HISTORY, published in 1977 (at p 94) states:

"Elk Run at Shelby was organized under a chestnut tree near the home of Deacon Henry Spottswood, Sr., in 1874. Frank Tibbs served as this congregation's first pastor. In 1876 Mt. Sinai at Seville was begun. Members of this congregation withdrew from Elk Run after a doctrinal disagreement and Pastor Tibbs followed to become first minister of Mt. Sinai."

The church is named (but no information provided) in Graham, THE CHURCHES OF MADISON COUNTY, VIRGINIA, 1721-1996.

Frank Tibbs is found in the 1880 census living in Orange County, in the madison district (ED 119, p 34B), with his age given as 60 and occupation as minister. Wife Rodie was 59.

Church is mentioned in various deeds for surrounding properties, sometimes as "Mt. Zion." Who gave or sold the land to the church? When was the church built? Rebuilt? Added to? Who were members? Any surviving old records?
