I am in possession of the Aljorn and Unie Farner Family Bible dating from 1868 to 1929+ on the listed family. Bible is very large, 8 1/2" x 11" about 4" thick. The front cover long since gone, back cover still in tact. There are numerous flowers and momentos in pages of bible. Also inside sleeve states the following written in old English script: "David Orndoff the Father of this family Died in the 86 year of his age 1873 was the Father of 18 children was married twice his last wifes name was Eliza Strosnider"

How did I get this wonderful treasure? It was passed down through youngest (little talked of and known son of David Orendorff and Eliza Strosnider, Aljorn born 1868 a twin to sister Lucy. Lucy and Aljorn (Allen J. Sidney) were twins born April 30, 1868 Wardensville, WV. Then passed to son John born in Somerset, KS who died Fresno, CA, passed to wife of Charles Bartlett Orndoff (interested in the family history)a Lyna Slaven of Fresno, CA (Charles had long since passed away, then, bible passed with permission to me, the oldest child of the oldest dau. who was interested in the ORNDOFF family tree. It is in my home in Clovis, California

For many years there was a quandry of what had happened to Aljorn after his mother had died when he was so young. Family tradition from 'Uncle John'son of Aljorn was that two old maids by the name of SYCRICKS had kidnapped him and taken him to Kansas and homesteaded and raised him there. Well, it took awhile, and some searching for years, but I put the puzzle pieces together and figured alot of it out I think. Aljorn had other brothers and sisters. a Hannah, Harrison, William, Simon, we heard some went to Lincoln NB, I haven't done anything on that. I'd like to know what happened to Lucy if anyone knows. If anyone is still listening...and you want to know more please contact me.
