RE: Cripple Creek

Good Morning,

I am hoping some clue might help me with my brick wall. I have an ancestor who purchased land on Cripple Creek in 1783. This land was later absorbed by Wythe County, VA. Does anyone know if this area was ever part of Fincastle County? I'm not sure exactly what part of Montgomery Fincastle would have encompassed, however, I'm pretty sure Cripple Creek is in the southwestern section as that is where Wythe County eventually appears.

Also, if anyone is aware of any routine migration pattern into Montgomery County, I'd appreciate that information. My ancestor seemingly appears out of nowhere. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cindy Graham
