Sara,
Montgomery County,( Virginia) was named for General Richard Montgomery of Revolutionary War fame. He died at the Quebec Battle.
I am descended from the Montgomery family of Wythe Co. Va.
There is said to be a connection to to the General, but I have not found it yet.
