JAMES CHAMBERLAIN, d. 1786, Montgomery Co., VA

I am seeking all available information on James Chamberlain, who apparently d. in Montgomery Co., VA, in 1786. Both the administration and the inventory of his estate are listed as having taken place in Montgomery Co. in the fall of that year.

As far as I can tell, he is the same James Chamberlain who was granted a land patent in Orange Co., VA, in Feb. 1742, at the same time as Jeremiah Chamberlain, apparently his brother, was granted an adjoining tract. James is supposed to have remained in VA for the rest of his life, while Jeremiah moved to York Co., PA, where he d. in 1776. The two, who are said to have arrived in the Colonies c1742, were reportedly the older brothers of my ancestor Ninian Chamberlain (1718-1804), who came from Ireland and settled in E. TN.

Of the three brothers, James seems to be the one about whom there is the least information available. I would thus greatly appreciate any information from tax lists, court proceedings, land purchases, birth records, marriage records, and the like, that would help me fill in the many blanks of James' life.
