Hello:

According to the NelsonCoVA Marriage Register: 1854-1926: page 34, entry #10, Patience Finley Evans, listed in the Register as "R. Pish Evans," age 47 and a widow, married John Manning, age 57 and a widower, born in Ireland to John and Ellen. The parents of Patience are not given. The actual date of the marriage is not listed, but the License was obtained on 26 January 1876.

In the 1880 Census for Rockfish Twp. of NelsonCO, John and Patience (here her name is given as Arpashia) are enumerated. John's age is listed as 65; her age is listed as 51. Three of her children by her previous marriage to Walter Evans are also enumerated with them: Robert Evans (name is listed as Ivens), age 18; Susan Evans, age 12; and Samuel Evans, age 10.

Robert Evans married Connie Williams, dau/o of James & P., on 30 Oct 1890 in NelsonCoVA. Both were born in NelsonCo.

In the 1900 Census for Rockfish Twp., NelsonCoVA, Samuel Evans is enumerated with his mother. Her name is listed as Patria and her birth date is given as April of 1830. Samuel is unmarried; birthdate given as May of 1872.

In the 1910 Census for Rockfish Twp., Samuel is again enumerated, but his mother does not appear with him. Apparently she died between 1900 and 1910.
