I am in the possession of a family Bible owned by Hardin Perkins. The Bible was published is 1832 and has “HARDIN PERKINS” imprinted in gold on front. The Bible contains a limited amount of personal data, however there are references to the Floyd family (John B., Chas. A., Walter P., St. George, Virginia C., Ida C., Bill, Mary C., and John B.). These were the children of Charles Anderson Floyd and Mildred Jane Perkins. Mildred Jane Perkins (b. 1824, d. 1870 in Campbell Co., VA) was one of the children of Hardin Perkins of Nelson Co., VA. I do not know if there are Hardin Perkins in both Louisa and Nelson counties or if they are one and the same. Did the same man marry both Sarah Ann Mosby in 1825 in Nelson County and Ellen D. Gooch in 1830 in Louisa?)
Who are the parents of Hardin Perkins?
The Bible contains fragmented old newspaper clippings about a few members of the following families: Floyd, Holman, Carter, Randolph and Perkins.
(My gr-gr-gr grandfather was John Lightfoot Blunt (1802-1882) of Hanover Co. and Richmond VA. Our family has been told that his wife was a “Perkins”….we believe it to be Elizabeth “Sarah” Perkins (1825-1864). Is there a chance that she and Hardin were related?)
