Found a reference to a burial in Old Episcopal Church cemetery. This would be for a John Diefendorf Hendree who died in 1802. There is also a newspaper announcement, Norfolk Herald?, with the names of the people who were going into business in the location formerly occupied by John Hendree. There is also reference to a Henry Diefendorf who died in Portsmouth in 1802. This is in estate administration files in Montgomery County, New York. I know that one of the Hendree daughters married a Chester Sully, brother of Thomas Sully, the artist. Chester and a son of John Hendree later were cabinetmakers in Richmond ca 1820-1834. If anyone has any clues about this family or where to look I'd appreciate it. I really exhausted a lot of possibilities. Thanks Win Notify Administrator about this message?
