I don't research McCoy's but I can tell you there isn't a surviving marriage return in Norfolk County for Joseph and Martha since I've abstracted the marriages in "Norfolk County VA Marriage Licenses 1850-1899 (white only) Volume I." but I can tell you an interesting one from the second Volume.

Zeta McCoy (28) married William Henry Warden on 10 Apr 1918 and reported her parents as Josiah and Martha McCoy.

Zeda Amanda McCoy (23) married George Clifton Whiten on 9 Sep 1908 and reported her parents as Joseph and Martha McCoy.

Both females reported themselves as single - they may be the same female since the clerk's made plenty of mistakes on those licenses...of course there's aways the chance the abstracted made the mistake too :-(
