Death Of Two Relatives - The Bee (Danville, Virginia), Mar 23 1922

Two telegrams, both bringing word of death of a relative, at different places, were received yesterday by W B Pinnix, of this city. A short time after receiving a wire informing him of the death of his first cousin, Reverend J. W. Pinnix at Kernerville, NC. Mr. Pinnix received another telegram from Newport News, stating that Mrs Lula Hertsell, of that place was also dead. Mrs Hertsell is also first cousin. No details were received in either of the messages. Both Rev. Pinnix and Mrs. Hertsell are well know in this city and have many friends who learned of their death with sorrow. Rev. Pinnix has a brother, Dr. John A. Pinnix, who survives him, living in Yanceyville.

Passes Away Early Today
Newspaper Solicitor Was Known to Hundreds of Danville Market Patrons

William B. Pinnix, age 77, died this morning at four o'clock at his home on Stokes Street, following an illness of ten weeks which had been preceded by a general decline in health. Mr. Pinnix had lived in Danville for the past thirty-seven years and enjoyed an acquaintance exceptionally wide as a result of the many years he spent as a solicitor for the Register Publishing Company. He was a familiar figure in the warehouse district during the sales period. He knew thousands of farmers by their first names and he had a flair for being able to tell them just when their subscriptions to the Danville papers would expire.

A native of Caswell County, he was born close to Pelham, N C, where he spent the early part of his life, coming to Danville and working as for thirty-five years as a solicitor for the publishing company. He was for many years a regular attendant at the First Baptist Church. He was first married to Sallie Burton of Reidsville, who died many
years ago leaving him with six* children, Miss Sallie Will, of Norfolk; Miss (Mr.) Kerr Pinnix, of Winston-Salem, Burton Pinnix, Robert Pinnix, and Mrs. Charles Eanes, of Norfolk and Mrs R.O. Burroughs, of Atlanta, Georgia. Later Mr. Pinnix was married to Miss Lizzie Farmer (PALMER) of Pittsylvania County, who survives with three children, Shelburne Pinnix, and Misses Frances Pinnix and Irene Pinnix of this city.
