My 4th great-grandparents were William T. Taylor and Sarah Wheeler. They were married November 2, 1780 in Northampton Co., VA. A marriage bond as found on Ancestry.com, reads as follows: Marriage bond for William Taylor and Sarah Wheeler: Know by these presence that we William Taylor and Louise Lawrence of the county of Northhampton are hole and firmly bound unto his excellency Thomas Jefferson, Esqr. Governor in the sum of 50 pounds payable to the said Thomas Jefferson is his obligation for which ? jointly, ser? ?aid firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 2d day of November, 1780. The condition of this obligation is such that ?? is intended to be ? the above bound William Taylor and Sarah Wheeler. If therefore there is no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force. Sealed and delivered in the presence of ?William Smith Who was Louise Lawrence? Some researchers have identified William T.'s parents as William Taylor and Louise Lawrence. I have no proof. Is anyone searching Taylor and Wheeler during these early years in VA? They moved on to Greenville, SC by 1790. Any additional info would be appreciated. Tempe Taylor Berggren
