I am looking for the parents of Thomas Gaskins b 1749 in PA and died in 10 Feb 1813 in Northumberland Co, PA. Married to Elizabeth McClennahan b 1757. I believe since they were one of the earliest families to settle in Northumberland, Northumberland Co, PA that it may have been named after Northumberland Co VA. The first Gasgoynes came to Northumberland Co VA and I feel he may have been the son of one of those early one who may have migrated up the Susquehanna. Does anyone have a family member of the Gaskin, Gasgoyne lines who may have left the southern region and came north. Thomas seems so to have much the same character of those in the south- being very military and ranking officer in the Revolution. He cleared this PA region of the Indians just prior to the Rev and was called by Washingto to bring his militia to Philadelphia in the Rev. So I feel he was known by Washingto as were the other Gaskin lines. Esp. since I can't find any other immigrating Gaskins at that time do I feel he is of this family before they moved across the river. Those who moved across the river i am told do not have anyone who might have settled in the north. But my Thomas's father would have very early moved away from this family before they moved over to Craven area. Connie Philip4@comcast.net Notify Administrator about this message?
