John Bowman & Mary Beller were married 10 October, 1808 in Patrick County VA. She was the daughter of Peter Beller, who sold land to John Bowman in 1811, 1813 & 1819 and to Leonard Bowman in 1814. Leonard Bowman and John Bowman are listed as living next door to each other in the 1820 US Census for Patrick County.
In 1835 Leonard deeded land to son of a John Bowman & Mary Beller, Cleon Bowman, and Leonard is not listed as a Head of household in the 1840 US Census for Patrick County. However, John Bowman has acquired an elderly male household member in 1840 who is just the right age to be Leonard. (Cleon Bowman’s first name is variously spelled in primary or secondary sources as Claran, Claron, Cleron, Clon and Clearn.)
I am descended from John & Mary Bowman through Cleon Bowman, John C Bowman, Thomas J Bowman, and Charlie L Bowman, and I am eager to correspond with descendants of any of these Bowmans.
