this was my william harris, sr/ frances goode, who was the overseer for william marable in 1745/ 1746 in lunenburg co, va for the plantation, finneywood, and who, per this info, was also associated with this thomas finney.

the following sentence does not seem to be accurate but instead seems to say that finney also conveyed something to isaac winston, jr.

can anyone on the pittsylvania forum tell me what this sentence actually does say?

thanks.

THE HISTORY of PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY VIRGINIA
CHAPTER III FIRST SETTLEMENT

When John Stewart transferred some entries of land that he had made in
1737-38, Thomas Finny was a witness to the transaction. Finny was another
very early settler and patented much land throughout the county, but more
especially along Banister River, where he seemed to make his home. In 1746,
William Harris was overseer at "Finnywood," and at this time Finny conveyed
to him several entries of land. On one occasion Finny Isaac Winston, Jr., a
"pistole" for 400 acres on Bye Creek of Banister River, a pistole being a
spanish coin worth $4.67. This could hardly indicate the value of lands at
that time.
