Slave Descendants:Ellington/Philpott/Brummall

I am researching slave descendants of Edward ELLINGTON and a possible brother of his by the name of William. I believe Edward was owned, generally, by the ELLINGTON family and specifically by Samuel D. Ellington, b. 1803, (m. Permelia and Mary Ann Perkinson), son of Hezekiah, JR., b. 16 Apr 1777, (m. Obedience HATCHER), son of Hezekiah, SR., b. 23 Feb 1753, (m. Ridley Anne BRUCE), son of David, SR., b 1713, (M. Martha Ann TUCKER or FOLWKE), son of John, Sr, b. 1690. Samuel was born in VA, migrated to Cumberland County, Kentucky, and finally Chariton County, Missouri. Allied families are PHILPOTT and BRUMMALL.

I believe Edward, b. 1803 or 1813 (my ggrandfather) was born in VA, possibly in Prince Edward County. Edward may have had at least two wives. The first unknown; his second wife, Eliza Ann, (my ggrandmother) was born in Kentucky.

I have accessed some ELLINGTON wills on-line and this message board. Any new leads on ELLINGTON slave acquisitions, dispersals, and names from descendants of owners is greatly appreciated. Our Family Oral History relates that Edward's parents may have been from Ethiopia.

Preston
