I have an 800 Acre & 116 acre Discription of property. From the court & tax records in the mid 1700's in PWC. The two parcels may be close together, but maybe not.
The 800a is discribed as being along Occoquan Run & is also said to be at Lick Run below the said (Occoquan) Run. I can find where Lick Run goes into the Little Bull Run, but not off of the Occoquan. How large of an area would this be?
The 116a is said to be on the lower side of Goose Run off of Cedar Run. As far as I can find, Goose Run does not empty directly into Cedar Run.
This property was owned by William Thorn 1740ish. Passed on to his son John. John passed 100a to his sons William & John, Jr. William sold his 1816 & John, Jr. probably did as well. William is my line. The old tax records say they are 10 miles NW of Dumfries.
If any one knows of any old plantation maps that show these locations or this family. Or knows where these streams are today. Please let me know.
