Hello, I am a historian in Stafford County, Virginia. During the late 18th and for all of the 19th century, there were a number of Stewarts living in the northern part of Stafford. I don't know where these folks came form prior to coming into Stafford. I'm wondering if they might be kin to some of your folks. A few of the Stafford Stewarts were: James Stewart (died 1822)--served in War of 1812 Charles Stewart (died 1819)--served in War of 1812 James N. Stewart (died 1825)--son of the above Charles John N. Stewart (died 1917) Thomas Stewart (died c.1833)--served in War of 1812; son of Charles (died 1819) John M. Stewart (born c.1822)--enlisted in 9th Virginia Cavalry Apr. 1861 William Barnett (1868-19520--son of Charles J. Stewart (born c.1824) Bernard Stewart (died c.1846) Barnett Stewart (1814-1871) James P. Stewart (1803-1843) George L. Stewart (1859-1931)--son of Barnett Do any of these names sound familiar? During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, there were also a William and Robert Stewart in the same vicinity, but they came from Baltimore, Maryland. I can find nothing that connects the two groups of Stewarts and I believe the Stewarts on the above list came from someplace other than Maryland. Sincerely, Jerrilynn Eby MacGregor Notify Administrator about this message?
