I have recently received information that indicates that Mary Frnks was given guardianship of the younger children of John Richard and Martha Jane Goodwin/Gooden VanWinkle in Columbia CO. Arkansas in about 1881. They children were Andrew Jackson, Ben Jefferson and Amanda Jane Van Winkle. John Richard died about 1876 and Martha Jane in 1881 leaving the family orphaned. It is my understanding that the older children went to live with their half sister Sarah VanWinkle Hill. Sarah (Sally) was the daughter of John Richard and Nancy Harris VanWinkle.
There are several Mary Franks in Arkansas in this time frame. Does anyone have a VanWinkle-Franks connection?
