Services for James Marion VanWinkle, 84, Spencer, who died Friday, will be at 10 am Tuesday in Mayes Funeral Home with burial in Oklahoma City's Resthaven Cemetery. A native of Pike County, Ark, Van Winkle farmed near Norman before moving to Spencer 15 years ago. Survivors include his wife Sarah, six daughters, Mrs. Margaret Elmore, Norman, [Okla]; Mrs. Opal James, Poplar, Calif; Mrs. Doxie Dendy, Vista, Calif; Mrs Sylvia McIntire, Drumright, [Okla]; Mrs Jane Bradley, 240 SE 18; and Mrs. Goldie Tabor, Spencer, [Okla]; three sons, James and C.D., both of Oklahoma City, and J.C. Seagraves, Texas; a brother, Frank, of Allen; and two sisters Mrs. Cynthia Woodall, Spencer, [Okla]; and Mrs. Mary Vaughn, Noble, [Okla].

James Marion Van Winkle was my great-great grandfather. In an effort to help any related ancestors, I am posting this obituary. Per the records from Resthaven they state James passed away on 4 Sept 1965 -however in locating a calendar from 1965, the 4th of September was a Saturday, so it may have been 3 Sept 1965 that he passed way. James may have been born around 1880-1881, both James and his wife Sarah are buried at Resthaven Cemetery, they do not have markers though*******
