Dorothy Lucille Bennett Funeral services for Dorothy Lucille Bennett, 88, of Oklahoma City were held July 21, 2003 at Lakeside Church of God with the Rev. J.H. Ford, the Rev. Paul Jackson and the Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating. Interment was at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Mrs. Bennett died July 17, 2003 at Integrated Health Services of Moore. She was born April 18, 1915 in Corbett, the daughter of Charles and Lisa Jane VanWinkle. She had lived in Oklahoma City since 1947, coming from the Lexington/Corbett area. On Sept. 10, 1938 she married the Rev. James Bennett in Lexington. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker, a pastor’s wife and a member of Sunshine Tabernacle in Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. James Bennett; two brothers; three sisters; two sons-in-law; one grandson and one great-grandson. Survivors include two sons, Dewey Bennett of Midwest City and the Rev. Louis Bennett of Moore; six daughters, the Rev. Floretta Reed, Billie Acree and Linda Garrett, all of Oklahoma City, Virginia Van Curen of Stroud, Kaye Hulsey of McLoud and Patty Jackson of Midwest City; a sister, Zelma Jean Sims of Shawnee; two sisters-in-law, Martha Ramsey and Naomi Mitchell, both of Lexington; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Roy Wilson, Kenny Doyle, Michael Wilson, James Bennett, Stephen Jackson, Jimmy T. Bennett, Dillon Frances and Jessie Hulsey. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Tucker, Claude Tucker, Randy White, Zachary White, Dusty Jackson, Jeremy Hulsey, Clarence Gourley III, John Reed, Donavan Williams and Kyle Williams **This obituary appeared on July 24, 2003 in the Purcell Register in Purcell, Oklahoma.** Notify Administrator about this message?
