I would advise everyone to use the Waddington book with great caution, and to check everything. I have now found it to be totally wrong on 3 counts - one instance is where it gives a 2nd wife, Mary Foulds, to Robert Waddington b 1790 - but the parish records show that the Robert Waddington who married Mary Foulds was a bachelor not a widower. Secondly the children attributed to Robert W and Ellin Hartley (m 1770)are totally wrong - the book is right with the first 2 born in 1771 and 1774, but the other listed children are those of James W and Hannah Edmunson (m 1785) - also James was a son of William and Mary Patchett but is not listed in their children in the book. I have checked the parish records for all of these. There is another example where I am 99% sure that the book says a Foulds Waddington died in 1880 but I have found him very much alive at the 1881 census?
These are just 3 examples from my own line - so if you are using the Waddington book for information on your ancestors, please take note that the information in the book may be inaccurate!
