Sue,

My GGG Grandfather was Thomas Waddington of Stainland, Yorkshire, England. I do not know who his father was, but I believe he had 3 siblings: Ernest & Jane. Ernest stayed in England, and I think Jane immigrated to the USA with Thomas.

Thomas was born FEB 1859. He married (I believe) a Martha Ann (don't have maiden name) in England. She originated in Soyland, Yorkshire, England and was born in 1858 and died in 1884. They had one son, John William Waddington, born 8 FEB 1879.

Thomas re-married a Harriet MORTON in March 1882 in Huddersfield, W. Yorkshire, England. They had a 7 children:

1. Ethel (b. Jan 1883 in England)
2. Harold Morton (b. 9 FEB 1889 in Pennsylvania, USA) * GG Grandfather
3. Raymond L. (b. AUG 1891, Pensylvania USA)
4. Eva (b. JAN 1894, Pensylvania USA)
5. Thomas E. (b. 3 JAN 1886, Pensylvania USA)
6. Cyril R. (b. APR 1899, Pensylvania USA)
7. Rexford (b. 20 SEP 1901, Pensylvania USA)

Harriet died 23 OCT 1901 I assume from complications from Rexford's birth.
Thomas was naturalized a US Citizen 4 OCT 1890.

After Harriet's death, it seems Thomas returned to Huttersfield, England and married a third wife. Family lore indicates that she ran off with Thomas' sister, Jane's husband. I do not know the husband's name or the name of the third wife.

If any of this rings a bell with anyone, I'd love to find out who Thomas' parents were and more about his siblings. I have pretty complete records on Thomas' line I'd be happy to share.

Bronwyn
